Embroidered Name

Length The "embroidered name" field will accept up to 12 characters, including spaces. In other words, "Merry Christmas from the Smiths" is not an option. Shorten names such as Uncle Salvatore to either Uncle Sal or Salvatore. If you MUST have a longer name, such as Miss Washington (15 characters) on a "Teacher" stocking, please include this information in the "special request" field when placing your order. We'll do what we can & email if it's impossible.

Size Shorter names such as Mom, Dad, Ken & Sue can, logically enough, be larger than names such as Grandmother, Grandfather, Elizabeth & Theodore. When embroidering a group of stockings, it's assumed that they will hang together. Therefore, the longest name is done first so that all of the stockings will have the same letter height/size. If this is not the case or if the stockings are for two different families, please indicate in the "special request" area when ordering.

Spelling All names will be embroidered upper & lower case. Please be certain of the spelling, including capital letters half-way into the name (KaittLinn). Since the simplest of names can have 4, 5 or even a dozen variations, it will be embroidered as you order it without question. Special characters (tilde, circonflex, umlaut or other accent marks) are, unfortunately, not an option.

Letter Color

A color is recommended for the name on each stocking and in most cases two or three options are offered in the pull-down menu. If the color you wish isn't offered, you may make a note in the "special request" area when placing your order. Color is very subjective. Therefore, whatever the color option, we will choose the best shade to go with the stocking fabric. Green, for example, could be kelly or spruce or forest or light green or dark green.

Letter Style

The two choices are either block or script (cursive). Since block is the more popular, this is the default. You may switch to cursive in the pull-down menu. If you're purchasing Christmas stockings for children seven years old or younger, please keep in mind that cursive writing is generally not introduced until second or third grade. Since so much of Christmas is for children, set aside what you like and think of the delight a child derives seeing it's own name. To put script lettering on a small child's stocking is like buying operatic music for someone who only likes country (because you like opera) or vice versa.
